Student Version Limitations

The Student Version is virtually identical to the full version of EViews 6 for interactive use. Here are the feature restrictions:

• While there is no limit on the amount of data the version can open, import or work with, saving and exporting is disabled when data exceed a limit of 1,500 observations per series, 15,000 total observations or 60 objects. Bringing the data under this limit will re-enable the saving and exporting features.

• The programming capabilities and batch mode processing are not supported.

• Other excluded features:

  • Automatic seasonal adjustment procedures: X11, X12, and Tramo/Seats

  • Database functions: storing EViews object to databases and database auto-search

  • Redirection of print output into text or RTF files

Note: The EViews 6 Student Version license restricts use to a single machine by a single user (enrolled student or faculty member). The continued use of the Student Version beyond a 14-day grace period requires product activation/registration. Product activation takes seconds to perform using our automatic registration feature (for internet connected computers). Registration may also be performed manually after obtaining a registration key via web browser or by contacting QMS by telephone. In addition, the Student Version License will expire two (2) years after first use, and the Student Version will no longer run two years after the first activation.
